Polka Dancing at Kochanski’s

This past winter, Jonny and I went on an adventure out to Wisconsin to partake in some very Wisconsin-y activities to kick off our Craft Collection campaign with Pick ‘n Save Stores. If you’ve been following along, we’ve shown some insane (and insanely funny) videos of us at Bockfest tossing frozen fish or mini bowling in a home turned tavern. Today we are going to share our experience at legendary Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall in Milwaukee, where Jonny and I were thrown right in the middle of a polka dancing ho-down.
As we walked in this tavern, we were greeted by a full on polka band and a room full of elderly polka dancing fanatics. OKAY?? We bee-lined right to the bar where we met the owner of Kochanski’s, Andy. Andy was a good dude, and had a very diverse lineup of beers. We started off with some Polish strong lagers in the can before moving to the tried and true craft beer of Wisconsin, New Glarus Spotted Cow. Meanwhile, these polka dancers were going insane moving all over the place with energy of someone doing Zumba. There was one nice lady that might have been in her mid 80’s who was kicking her legs over her head.
Polka dancing is not as easy as it looks, these well simmered ladies grabbed Jonny and I to join in on the fun, and we were out of breathe before one whole song was over. Needless to say, you would only find something this crazy, yet charming in Wisconsin and it’s a story we can both share for many years to come. I would definitely go back for the entertainment factor and the beer, as long as I wasn’t made to dance at that insane pace.
