This “poll” is such crap. First off, they use a version of the MH “#9” that CLEARLY doesn’t look anything like the West 6th… well, no sh*t THAT logo doesn’t resemble MH’s. HOWEVER, there is in fact, a version that looks like they spun it upside-down and moved the star to the right (instead of the center of the nine.) Same exact font, same exact star.

People recognize the difference between Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” and Queen/Bowie’s “Under Pressure.” They clearly aren’t the same song. But it’s beyond obvious that Vanilla Ice ripped off the sample and tried to take credit… everyone knows it.

Why not just own up and be professional about it like you should’ve from the beginning? Oh, no… They have to take a pay cut for 5 minutes to change a logo they shouldn’t have put out in the first place… End. Of. The. World. You brew beer for a living, and clearly you’re somewhat popular. Stop whining.

I live in the area and I just don’t see why people are supporting West Sixth. Probably just because they’re the “llttle guy”. They had a very good offer from the Vermont guys to compromise and then they reneged on their agreement in principle. Now they’ve bombarded everyone in the area with their petition spam, and to make matters worse they’re telling big whopping lies in it. I just don’t see supporting anyone who BS’s me with very obvious lies. It’s one thing to make a product that we all like. But there’s such a thing as good business practices and being a good corporate citizen. Just making decent beer is not the end-all and be-all.

Methinks this was a fight that needn’t have been picked!

First, I want to emphatically state that I love West Sixth beers! I stopped by the taproom soon after it opened… 2 sips into my first pint of IPA, I bought a case! Had several other beers during that visit, not a weak one in the bunch!

At the same time, I commented to the bartender that the logo looked god-awful like Magic Hat’s #9 turned upside-down. He replied, yeah, we hear that a lot!

The logo may have been professionally designed, BUT, even if the designer wasn’t familiar with other products in the market, surely at least one of the beer geeks involved would have noticed the strong resemblance, and it was apparently decided to press on, regardless!… WHY?

By now, this fight is in the hands of the lawyers, and there are conflicting versions of what has transpired so far.

But this fight should have never been started!

If you cannot discern the difference between the number 6 and the number 9, then you are a fool, and have likely overindulged. The West 6th logo was independently designed, and reflects the LOCATION of the brewery, on West Sixth Street. Any suggestion to the contrary is likely the work of a corporate shill for Magic Shat Brewery. Good luck hiring enough PR folks to right this wrong. I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings for Magic Shat, as West Sixth Brewery has already gotten over 10,000 signatures and counting, and this is only DAY ONE. Proud of our local brewery, and proud to send a clear message to the corporate bullies of Magic Shat via some grass roots action. F you, Magic Shat.

    Really Melissa?

    Take this question:

If West Sixth Brewing was equal in size to Magic Hat….

    * I would look at it differently.
    * Magic Hat would still be wrong in this case.

Now explain which of those 2 answers is supporting Magic Hat? Both answers assume support of West Sixth. Not difficult to understand that.

No the opinions are in favor of West Sixth, don’t blame the questions. Either you are for one or the other, it’s not that difficult.

The poll questions are a lot slanted towards West Sixth. Kind of a shame since West Sixth was untruthful in their original posting, or at least misleading. It is looking more and more like West Sixth wanted this publicity and was hoping for an opportunity to play the poor little brewer being beat up on by the big brewery. Their are definitely enough similarities as to be confusing to an average consumer, and I refuse to believe that West Sixth did not realize that before they started using the logo. Unless they have had no connection with craft beer in America there is virtually no way they had not seen the #9 logo.

Yes, A Perfect Pint… like the Titanic was “a bit slanted” before it sank into the Atlantic…

These questions were clearly posed by someone who had made up their own mind and decided it was fact. Asking if “I might look at things differently” or “Magic Hat would still be wrong”? Tell me… when did you stop beating your wife?
