(San Francisco, CA) – Cider Summit SF is excited to announce the date for the fifth annual event, taking place on April 14, 2018, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Civil War Parade Ground in the Presidio. Cider Summit SF will feature nearly 200 ciders from around the world, including well-known ciders and new releases. Advance purchase tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online here.
Nearly 200 selections of cider from California and other states, along with ciders from over five different countries, will be available to taste. Guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the cider experience and be guided through the tastings by the cidermakers themselves. The festival will include local producers such as Ace Cider, Cider Brothers, Golden State Cider, Tilted Shed Ciderworks, Sonoma Cider, and Two Rivers, in addition to other regional favorites and international classics. Cider Summit SF will also feature a variety of cider cocktails prepared by selected cideries, along with apple spirits.
New this year, Oregon Fruit Products (OFP) and Enartis have created the Fruit & Oak Cider Challenge. Participating cideries will craft a special cider using OFP fruit puree and Enartis oak. Attendees will be able to vote by text at the event to select the champion.
Cider Summit is also collaborating with Tieton Cider Works on a special release cider. Tieton Cider Works has been making and distributing hard cider in the Northwest since 2008. Located in Central Washington, Tieton Cider Works grows and presses their apples on their orchard and packages the hard cider at the Cidery in Yakima, Washington. To celebrate Tieton Cider Works’ 10-year anniversary, together with Cider Summit festivals, they are bringing a special Oak Barrel Aged Cider to all of the Cider Summit events this year, including San Francisco. Made with a select blend of cider apples from Tieton’s orchards, the cider features notes of nutmeg, orange peel, allspice, and cloves.
To complement the cider, specially paired food selections will be available for purchase from vendors including Slow Hand BBQ, Full Moon Crepes and other assorted small bites. Whole Foods Market will also host a cider and food-pairing pavilion featuring local cidermakers and food purveyors. The event will also feature a “Dog Lounge” hosted by Berkeley Humane & Wag Hotels, as well as an event store with Cider Summit SF t-shirts and other merchandise.
Advance purchase tickets are available for $35 (souvenir tasting glass and 15 tasting tickets) and $45 for VIP tickets (early access to the event from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., souvenir tasting glass, and 18 tasting tickets).
