POLL: Which Craft Brewery Will Be The Next to Sell?
It’s been a very interesting year so far for the craft beer industry. While dozens of new breweries are starting seemingly every week, we’ve seen a handful of acquisitions, mergers, investments to well established breweries over the past 7 months.
While many of us have viewed our favorite craft breweries as if they were local sports teams (including myself), the reality is these are businesses that sell goods, and are in competition to succeed.
Please take our poll to see which one of these breweries is most likely to be the next one to be bought, merged with a larger operation, or have a substantial stake owned by private equity.
Keep in mind, no brewery is immune to this, regardless of what their marketing may suggest. If you feel so inclined, share your pick and the scenario you think this brewery will be in. Also, please share who you think is the longest shot out of the bunch.

meg could cash out at golden road, but with upcoming expansion to anaheim and tony’s deep pockets, i doubt there would be any new outside money or interests in golden road. too bad, they have everything a brewery could want except for great beer.
lagunitas is expanding. cigar city has entertained investors meetings, ken grossman is richer than most and doesnt need help.

Golden Road should be on this list. I could see Meg cashing out.

I’d say Lagunitas isn’t looking to sell. Expanding to Chicago and LA, I think they are just getting started. Ballast and Green Flash just turned down offers from IB-AB, so no to that. Wouldn’t surprise me to see H24 sell, or so I’ve heard!
