Today we bring to you, two sour ales from Cascade Brewing Company as well as Allagash Nancy. Here are the descriptions and links below.
Cascade Strawberry – This NW style sour is a crisp, refreshing wheat beer that was barrel-aged for seven months then additionally aged with strawberries for another eight months. Bright, sweet strawberries and light candy notes greet you in the nose. A light tartness and berry sweetness intermingle on the palate, giving way to a light, sparkling fresh berry tartness in the finish. It is better as a breakfast beer or a dessert? You decide. ABV: 7.1%
Cascade Foudre #1 – Foudre Project #1 is a NW Style sour ale that is a blend of Triples aged in one of our foudre. Look for aromas of sweet candy, apple and subtle hints of citrus as you draw the glass near. Sweet candy and oak mingle on the palate and lead to a soft, round, sweet finish with a lingering oak note. ABV: 9.2%
Allgash Nancy – Nancy is a sour red ale fermented with Maine cherries and Brettanomyces in 100% stainless, for just shy of a year. The cherries were a blend of Balaton and Montmorency and added at a rate of 2 lbs per gallon. Copper in color, Nancy has an aroma of cherries, bread crust and a touch of cinnamon. The flavor is a medley of tart cherry, citrus and pie spice. The finish is dry with a lingering tartness. ABV 6.3%
