El Segundo Brewing Ups The Quota On Blue House Citra Pale
Exciting things have been happening down here in El Segundo, but most exciting by far has been the arrival of everybody’s favorite hop variety: Citra!
Last year we brewed a little bit of Blue House Citra Pale, but were unable to brew more due to a shortage of this most wonderful hop. We still don’t have enough to brew the beer full time, but we have more than enough to get some super citrusy, ridiculously hoppy Citra Pale in your face for a little while.
We brew our standard Pale at just 5.5%, and keep the hop profile restrained, making it ideal for those who haven’t fully embraced the glory of lupulin. But for the converted, we have started the Double Dry-Hopped project. We take that well balanced Pale, and dry hop it to the gills. And then dry hop it again. And then maybe a little more after that. Each version of Double Dry-Hopped Pale will highlight a specific hop variety, and we will be trying to use as many as possible, but we’ll keep Citra in heavy rotation.
As many of you know, we have not been able to secure Simcoe hops to make our Blue House IPA this year, but we think you’ll do just fine with Double Dry-Hopped Citra Pale in the meantime.
To celebrate the coming of the hops, we thought we would have a little release party. On Saturday February 4th, we will open our doors at 12 noon and start filling all your growler requests. Refills on Citra Pale will be just $15, a steal when one considers the ridiculous amount of hops we use for this beer.
Local restaurant The Richmond will also be pouring Citra day of, so you can get your grub on with a pint after you get some at the source!
**Day-of Special**
New Growler fill of Citra and an ESBC T-shirt for just $28! ($42 value)
Come celebrate the Harvest with us!
