Cigar City Good Gourd Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Cigar City Brewing – Cigar City Good Gourd Imperial Pumpkin Ale – From a 32 oz. growler to goblet. 9.9% abv.

Appearance: Pours a vibrant auburn red with a tight thin white film atop.

Aroma: Nutmeg, cinnamon and other pumpkin pie like aromas.

Taste: Bitter nutmeg, pumpkin meat and alcohol. Finishes very dry and bitter.

Mouthfeel: Aggressive carbonation, medium bodied.

Overall: Super solid, most things I like about a strong pumpkin ale were nailed on this one, however I’d like it even better if it was sweeter. Many pumpkin ales go overboard with the pie like sweetness, so I see the caution that was taken with this one.
