Danny and Jonny Go Ice Fishing

Jonny and I did a ton of fun winter stuff in Wisconsin when we were helping Pick ‘n Save promote the Craft Collection. One thing I wish we could do more of is ice fishing. Jonny and I enjoy the warm weather all year round here in SoCal, so while we’ve seen ice fishing on TV, we had never done it before.
We packed up a cooler of our favorite beers and were taken out about 100 feet with an ice fishing pro who had picked out the perfect spot. Our guide handed us an auger (pretty much a gigantic drill) and immediately put us to work. We weren’t used to being bundled up in winter gear, which made turning the auger quite challenging. After busting our hump to break through the ice so we could set our bait, our guide breaks out an electric auger. Thanks guy!
Then came the hard part, we had to go in a warm and toasty shanty and check on some fish. We were able to chat, sip on beer and most importantly, stay warm. Unfortunately, after a bit of time, we came up short on catching any fish.
As a guy who has mastered sitting down and drinking beer, I think I would be able to add expert ice fisher to my resume with a little more practice, provided I get my hands on that electric auger.
