Danny & Jonny Head “Up North” In Wisconsin

Jonny and I were taken “Up North” to get a good feel for Wisconsin life for our partnership with Pick ‘n Save Stores to promote their Craft Collection. Just imagine a Norman Rockwell painting of a winter wonderland, and that’s what you have up in northern Wisconsin. We were told we were going to play ice hockey, turkey bowl and MAYBE a polar plunge. The whole time, I was praying they were joking about the polar plunge.
Ice Hockey
Jonny was a little apprehensive about playing ice hockey as he had never been on ice skates before. I had been on ice skates, but only on a smooth skating rink. When we got to the hockey pond, we were met by a group of old-timer ice hockey players. You could tell this was something they were used to, as they weren’t bundled up like us. They shared some skates with us and our hands nearly froze trying to lace them up. Crazy enough, Jonny was just fine on the skates, I was falling over like a 1-year-old child learning to walk. We played a bit and Jonny even wound up scoring a goal.
Turkey Bowling
So apparently Turkey Bowling is a thing and it’s actually hilariously fun. The gist is, bowling pins are set up and you throw a frozen turkey at the pins. Another activity that works well with a beer. Beer in one hand, turkey in the other, just like if you were playing horseshoes.
The Polar Plunge
Well, it was a sick joke but it was also reality. They had Jonny and I do the polar plunge. We got down to our skivvies, ran down a dock and jumped in freezing cold water, which made us pretty badass in the end. We soothed ourselves with a classic Wisconsin Old Fashioned.
If you want to see Jonny and I act a complete fool in a beautiful winter setting, please watch this video.
