White Labs Tasting Room Grand Opening in San Diego THIS FRIDAY
Exactly one year ago San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders proclaimed June 15 as “White Labs Day” when he visited the official opening of White Labs’ new yeast production plant and world headquarters at 9495 Candida Street. By declaring “White Labs Day,” Sanders recognized the significant role the company plays not only in the local and regional beer community, but also in the larger beer industry throughout the world.
In business for 17 years, White Labs supplies yeast and fermentation supplies to breweries, wineries and distilleries. Nine months after moving into the larger, purpose-built production facility, White Labs first unveiled the tasting room in March. Starting with a “soft opening,” the tasting room showcased different beer styles brewed using unique yeast strains and fermentation techniques. Every beer offered reveals different flavors that each yeast strain contributes to beer.
Once again, Mayor Sanders returns as a special guest this Friday, June 15, to commemorate the second “White Labs Day” and help White Labs’ Tasting Room launch its expanded beer offerings, hours, and staffing. The event begins at 3:00 pm, with a ribbon cutting at 4:00 pm. Visitors will enjoy selections from 32 beer taps and 3 cask beers, plus three food trucks with food cooked using White Labs beer. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate together with White Labs and many special guests from San Diego and the Southern California beer community.
