Societe Brewing Company First Anniversary Re-Cap & Photos
If you’re a craft beer lover in southern California who hasn’t heard of Societe Brewing Company, we kindly advise you to wake up. While the small production brewery located in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego is still getting its bearings on distributing their finely crafted brews in their local market, the brewery has shined in its one year since opening their doors; garnering many accolades including gold, silver, and bronze medals at this year’s San Diego International Beer Festival. Societe was founded by Travis Smith and Doug Constantiner who share a resume that includes heavy-hitters like Russian River Brewing and The Bruery. Their experiences at these establishments have indeed translated in their own operations — from award-winning IPAs to a meticulously curated barrel program.
For their first anniversary which took place at their brewery over the last weekend, Societe decided to host four sessions over two days. Groups of 125 people rolled through to comfortably congregate inside their tasting room to enjoy unlimited eight-ounce pours of their entire lineup including The Roustabout Double IPA and The Butcher Imperial Stout; both of which were available for (limited) growler fills only for the occasion. We attended the first Saturday session and were greeted with a highly efficient check-in, virtually no lines, and the best customer service. Food vendors out on the patio, a schedule of tours, and an old-timey photobooth also contributed to what turned out to be a lovely stress-free anniversary experience. We are eager to see how the folks at Societe continue to grow and are crossing our fingers that we’ll be seeing their delicious beers in Los Angeles County in due time…
