Old Rasputin Night At Monk’s Kettle
The Monk’s Kettle to Host an Old Rasputin Vertical Night on Rasputin’s Birthday, Tuesday, December 29, 2009.
San Francisco, CA – On the night believed to be the 93rd anniversary of Rasputin’s legendary death, the Monk’s Kettle will be hosting an Old Rasputin evening. Featured for the evening will be three varieties of the imperial stout from North Coast Brewing, Old Rasputin, as well as menu items to be paired with the beers.
The evening will center on three beers: Old Rasputin in its original form, a 9% ABV dry imperial stout poured through a nitro faucet on draft; last year’s anniversary version, Rasputin XI, aged in oak bourbon barrels, poured on draft; this year’s anniversary version, Rasputin XII (also aged in bourbon barrels) poured from bottles released this past spring. Rasputin XI saw an extremely limited release, after its exclusive appearance last year at the brewery; its success led to the general (yet still limited) release this year of Rasputin XII.
These beers will be available as a vertical tasting, after 5PM, with a 10-oz pour of the regular (nitro), and a 4-oz pour of each of the anniversary versions, for $28. The regular version will be served in an Old Rasputin glass for the customer to keep.
Chef Kevin Kroger will be offering an Old Rasputin pairing menu for the evening, which will feature pungent blue cheeses, chocolates from the local, organic artisan chocolate producers Tcho, and Beef Short Ribs marinaded in Old Rasputin and chocolate.
This event is part of the Monk’s Kettle?s mission to find unique, high-quality beers, and serve them in the ideal setting. The beers during this event, as with any of our beers, will be served in the proper glassware to present the beer in its best light. The menu items of the evening have been chosen to specifically accentuate the flavor profiles of these beers. It is in this context that we offer monthly beer pairing dinners, usually held the first Wednesday of every month. This month’s beer dinner will be a New Year’s celebration with the Brouwerij Bosteels and Koningshoeven
