Hungry Monk’s Hoptoberfest & Chili Cook Off to Benefit Breast Cancer Awareness on October 29, 2011
Chandler, Arizona – Hungry Monk of Chandler announced that its Hoptoberfest & Chili Cook Off will benefit the Susan G Komen for the Cure Campaign. As part of the day’s activities the Hungry Monk will stage several fundraising events, highlighted by the “Bosom Buddies” competition, where male patrons wear colorful bras and walk the catwalk, in an effort to raise funds for breast cancer awareness. Other event highlights include more than 40 India Pale Ales (IPA’s) on tap, live entertainment and a dozen chili-makers battling it out for ultimate supremacy.
“I can’t think of a better day in Arizona than celebrating beer and boobs,” said Hungry Monk proprietor Jim Lolli. “We love ‘big’ beers at the Hungry Monk, and this spectacular selection of IPAs for Hoptoberfest will be a craft beer lovers dream. Throw in a great cause like Susan G Komen for the Cure, share it with your buddies, and you have a great afternoon.”
More than a dozen teams of novice chili-makers will compete in two categories for bronze, silver and gold medals and for the ultimate honor of having their recipes featured on the Hungry Monk’s menu for a week. Chili Wars categories include Texas Red and Anything Goes. The competition will kick off at noon-4 p.m. A panel of judges including a member of the media, industry expert and a celebrity guest will rate the teams based on taste.
