Boulder Beer Celebrates American Craft Beer Week
Nationwide Nitro Simultap As Boulder Beer Celebrates American Craft Beer Week 5/14
Boulder Beer Company’s special release of the heralded Flashback India Brown Ale prepared as a nitrogen-infused beer will be tapped simultaneously at dozens of locations nationwide at 4:20 pm Mountain Time on May 14. This “simultap toast” kicks off Boulder Beer’s celebration of American Craft Beer Week, sponsored by The Brewer’s Association.
Flashback on Nitro will be tapped simultaneously from MA and FL all the way to NV and CA. Photos and video of this national celebration of craft beer will be available at www.boulderbeer.com minutes after the tapping.
Named Beer of the Year by the Denver Post in 2009, Flashback was first introduced as Boulder Beer’s 30th Anniversary Ale – an amalgam/mash-up of the Stout/Porter Ales produced by the first brewers in 1979 and the India Pale Ale hop profile popular today. One of the original beers in the style now often referred to as “Black IPA” or “Cascadian Dark Ale,” Flashback was another trendsetter along the lines of Hazed & Infused dry-hopped amber ale, one of the first unfiltered, dry-hopped beers in a bottle. Infusing the Flashback with nitrogen for a smooth yet effervescent mouth feel was the next step in Boulder Beer’s History of Innovation. Once the exclusive draft of Irish Stouts, nitrogen-infused beers in a variety of flavors are breaking new barriers along the tap walls of great craft beer bars all over the United States.
LOCAL PUB FOCUS: Boulder Beer Company will be participating in the “simultap” on May 14 at our Pub in Boulder, Colorado. In addition to that nationwide toast, Boulder Beer’s Pub will feature inspired daily lunch and dinner specials developed in-house using our award winning brews for weeklong food and beer recipes and pairings. The week will culminate with Boulder Beer’s Innovation Celebration on Saturday, May 19.
INNOVATION CELEBRATION: All 12 taps at Boulder Beer will be replaced with barrel-aged and pilot brews on Saturday, May 19. Doors open at noon, but VIP tickets for an 11 am entry are available at the brewery for $10, which include 3 samples of the specialty brews. When each keg kicks, it will be replaced by a classic brand from the Boulder Beer portfolio (Singletrack, Mojo IPA, Sweaty Betty and the rest). There will be live music provided by the Grateful Dead cover band “All Dead” on Boulder Beer’s patio that afternoon, beginning the summer season of Saturday and Thursday live music popular with the local crowd.
INNOVATIVE FOOD AND BEER PAIRINGS: Boulder Beer’s Pub will feature creative and heretofore unavailable food pairings throughout the week. From the Buffalo Gold Bison Meatloaf (and sandwich) to Tenderloin Tips marinated in a cognac-barrel-aged Obovoid Stout, there will be a wide variety of daily specials to complement the always popular fare at the Boulder Beer Pub. Locally made Italian sausage with Singletrack copper ale garnished with peppers, onions and marinara; blackened salmon spring salad with a citrus ale vinaigrette; or Hazed & Infused Anaheim pork chili verde with a side of parmesan-garlic tater tots offer a variety of creative beer-based dishes for both the working crowd and the gastro-pub aficionado.
All week, Boulder Beer will be teaming up with our neighbor Shamane’s Bake Shoppe for a culinary delight for dessert: Kinda Blue (blueberry wheat beer) infused blueberry cheesecake with a Kinda Blue reduction sauce.
AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEK: Boulder Beer has also produced a specialty beer for American Craft Beer Week, a French-style Saison exclusively available at more than 70 Old Chicago Restaurants nationwide. As part of their American Craft Beer mini-tour, Old Chicago will be featuring 8 craft beers including Flashback India Brown Ale and the Old Chicago Farmhouse Saison. The aptly named Farm House is a beer redolent with the earthy aroma and flavor of a warm afternoon with a barn nearby and horses grazing in the distance. Copper in color and somewhat fruity up front, the French Saison yeast lays down a hint of dried apricots. Hoppy but not bitter, Farm House Saison ends with a dry finish that makes this beer tasty and thirst quenching. 6.4% ABV.
Boulder Beer is the oldest operating Craft Brewery to open since prohibition. We are proud to be a member of the Brewers Association and support American Craft Beer Week. To the team members at Boulder Beer, every week is Craft Beer Week.
