Are You Ready for Pittsburgh Beer Week 2013?
(PITTSBURGH, PA) – Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week 2013 kicks off its second year on Friday, April 19th and will continue until Saturday, April 27th. The 8 day-long annual celebration of craft beer will be filled with over 350 events for beer lovers to enjoy. Mentioned among some of the nation’s top beer festivals, such as Philly Beer Week and the American Craft Beer Fest, USA today recently recognized Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week for being one of the best beer gatherings to attend this spring.
Collaboration Brews
One of the highlights for the week ahead will be tasting one of the brewery collaboration beers. 5 beers, which were specifically made for Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week, showcase a collaboration effort from 25 individual brewers from 15 local craft breweries. Some of the creations for this year’s partnerships include an American Wild Ale, a Belgian Black IPA, a Rye Saison, a Smoked Black Walnut Oatmeal Stout, and a Pennsylvania Swankey/Kentucky Common. The first kegs will be tapped on Friday, April 19th at 5 PM. To find a list of bars/breweries/events that will be pouring the 2013 PCBW Collaboration Brews, check out the “Where to Find Them” page on the official Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week website.
Signature Events
Two of the signature ticketed events for this year’s PCBW include Release the Firkins-Real Ale Fest and the Commonwealth Press Beer Barge.
The Real Ale Fest is being held on Saturday, April 20th at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood. This event will feature over 32 cask-conditioned beers from local and national breweries. In addition to the real ales, local brewers will be pouring the 2013 PCBW Collaboration Beers. Volunteering
Was the event you wanted to attend sold out? Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week is currently looking for volunteers to help at their two flagship events. One can sign-up to assist pouring beer samples, selling raffle tickets, refilling ice, setting-up, etc. at the Real Ale Fest or CWP Beer Barge. Volunteers will be given free admission to the event and will be able to sample beer during breaks. See pittsburghcraftbeerweek.com/volunteer for more information on volunteering.
