Phoenix, AZ – Featuring four craft beers from Grand Canyon Brewing Company’s bomber bottle line, the Desert Botanical Garden’s new restaurant, Gertrude’s is set to host a delicious four-course dinner on Wednesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Open since January, Gertrude’s offers a fresh new food experience focusing on ingredients directly from the farm and pasture to the plate. This delicious summer collaboration beer dinner with the Grand Canyon Brewing Company is no exception.
Gertrude’s to feature Grand Canyon Brewing Company’s Flavor Bomb Brews in a four-course beer pairing dinner, July 17
The first course features Charred Dry Aged Beef Carpaccio paired with GCB Shaggy Bock— a classic bock style using three different types of sweet German Munich malt smoked over shaggy bark juniper, giving a hint of campfire flavor. Then, German Perle and Saphir hops are added to balance all that malt, 6.74%, ABV. This brew is conditioned with a Flavor Bomb containing a toasted oak stick so it just keeps getting better and better with age.
Next up, enjoy Grilled Spicy Quail with Blue Cheese paired with GCB Hop Bomber India Pale Ale—not your run of the mill IPA, it’s made with Marris Otter malt with a plethora of hops. The Flavor Bomb is filled with a variety of hops cones before it’s inserted into the bottle, 7.5% ABV.
The third course is Roasted Swine with Crispy Fingerlings, Heirloom Tomato, Roasted Corn and Salsa Verde which will pair perfectly with GCB Sunset Amber Ale—a blend of German, United Kingdom and Canadian medium roast crystal malts along with rich Munich and Pale malts give this amber a complex color and sweetness. Cascade hops help to tame the sweetness.
Finally, finish off this scrumptious meal with a Dime Store Banana Split paired with GCB Coffee Bean Stout—a full bodied stout with pale, Munich, caramel, crystal and chocolate malts that lend sweet coffee and toffee flavors. Then, UK Golding and a high roast barley finish this beer making it toasty and dry, 5.2% ABV. Coffee Bean Stout has 100 lbs of oatmeal per 15 bbl batch smoothing out the middle and the Flavor Bomb is packed with locally sourced Sumatra coffee beans for optimum flavor conditioning. The Dime Store Banana Split is prepared with Coffee Bean Stout gelato, banana gelato, smoked hot fudge, candied bacon, stout whipped cream and cherries.
