3rd Annual Women In Brewing Event
The 3rd Annual WOMEN IN BREWING event is coming up!
Each year, the Rubicon Brewing Company honors women in the brewing industry by inviting women and the beer they brew to Sacramento for a showcase day! That day is coming up in about two months, and we are already getting excited…
So, here’s the plan: First… On April 11th, a Second Saturday, the Rubicon will be at Old Soul Bakery starting at 6:30pm, promoting awareness and involvement in the Women in Brewing appreciation day. You will be able to learn all about the mission of the event whilst drinking your favorite Rubicon beer, viewing some incredible art, and listening to great music. (Old Soul Bakery is located at 1716 L St. in the rear alley).
Then… On the day of the main event, which takes place on Saturday, April 25th you can stop into the Rubicon for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and taste all of the special “brewed by women” beers which will be tapped right along side the regular Rubicon brews that you know and love. On that same day, there will be a silent auction featuring prizes donated by local businesses and supporting breweries.
The event and silent auction benefit W.E.A.V.E (Women Escaping A Violent Environment). A W.E.A.V.E. representative will be present at both events to take donations for their Safe House and answer questions about their organization.

WOMEN IN BREWING…THE BEGINNING-
“In 2005, an employee of the Rubicon was assaulted. This incident left me feeling overwhelmed and unsettled to say the least. My boyfriend and a close friend saw this change in me. They suggested that I do something progressive and as soon as possible. With the help of a co-worker and close friend, Darcy Quinn, and the wonderful and amazing owner of the Rubicon, Glynn Phillips, we had all the resources we needed to raise money for the non-profit organization, (W.E.A.V.E), that helped the young woman who was assaulted. I am very fortunate to have the love and respect of the Rubicon Brewing Company family. We are a lucky and close bunch.”
