Deschutes Black Butte XXV
From Deschutes Brwery – Dates, figs and chocolate. Black currants, barrel-aged in bourbon casks. The result is an Imperial Porter with a tart berry and chocolate aroma with luscious layers of dried fruit, oak and vanilla. A fitting tribute to the 25th Anniversary of our flagship beer.
Deschutes Brewery – Deschutes Black Butte XXV – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 11.3% abv.
Appearance: Pours dare I say black with a thin white ring.
Aroma: Ripe dark fruit, brambles, chocolate, wood, port.
Taste: Slight roast, herbal hops, wood, chocolate, dark fruit, tobacco, light spirits, bitter chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied modest carbonation.
Overall: I enjoyed this beer well before it’s enjoy after date. Last years recipe was a bit too sweet and had too much ripe dark fruit, this years was balanced with a few other flavors I enjoy. I think this is ready to drink now.
