Crooked Stave Blackberry Petite Sour
From Crooked Stave – Blackberry Petite Sour is an unfiltered wild ale with Blackberries aged in oak . A serious sourness greets you on the nose with dark bramble fruit aromas and bright citrus flavors created by the wild yeast and bacteria. The finish is dry with a firm tartness, and prickly mouthfeel.
Crooked Stave – Crooked Stave Blackberry Petite Sour – On tap at Stone 16th Anniversary – 5% abv.
Appearance: Pours magenta with a thin white film on top.
Aroma: Sweet and tart berries, funk. Very pleasant.
Taste: Tart berry. Berry soda or sparkling water, wheaty malt. Finishes with moderate sour twang.
Mouthfeel: Juicy, on the thin side of medium bodied.
Overall: Refreshing, tasty, tart, drinkable. I didn’t get any oak characters, but I think it was just so berry forward I didn’t look hard enough.
