O’Briens One 20th Anniversary IPA by Rip Current Gets Tapped Tonight – 15.7% abv.
(San Diego,CA) – You did read that right, we are tapping One 20th Anniversary IPA from Rip Current Wednesday night and it is 15.7% alcohol. As you know we have had many of our favorite breweries brew or release special beers for the pub’s 20th Anniversary this year. I have had the idea for this beer for a while but I knew it needed someone who would relish the challenge of making a strong, yet distinctly San Diego, IPA.
The goal was to surpass my barleywine Colossus at 15.1% alcohol and make the strongest naturally fermented beer ever in San Diego. The result is One 20th Annivesary IPA. What is it like? I can’t tell you because the kegs have not even been delivered yet. So we will all find out together at 5 pm on Wednesday the 22nd. Paul Sangster will be joining us for the tapping. I can not wait to taste it. We will be doing 5 oz and for the brave, 9 oz pours of the One 20th IPA. Bring both livers and a spare if you have it – you’ll need it.
