Crooked Stave to Release Specialty Bottles & Draught During GABF Week
(Denver, CO) – In celebration of the Great American Beer Festival, Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project will host a handful of unique bottle releases and specialty tapping’s throughout GABF week in their taproom located at 3350 Brighton Blvd. Denver CO. A full schedule of events can be found below.
Monday, October 2nd – Nightmare on Brett Marionberry Release
Crooked Stave will release Nightmare on Brett Marionberry Harvest 2016 (9.666% ABV) on Monday, October 2nd. A demonic dark sour, Nightmare on Brett takes on many facets during its transformation to the sour side. While each limited release is a unique blend of barrels, a heavy-handed addition of Marionberries expresses the terroir from which our fruit is sourced, and the skilled stewardship of the farmers we work with. Nightmare on Brett Marionberry will be available on draught and in 750 ml cork and cage bottles, limit 2 per person, starting at 12 PM.
Tuesday, October 3rd – Dual Bottle Release: Colorado Reserva Palisade Peach & Falling Rock 20th Anniversary Blend:
At 12 PM, Crooked Stave will release Colorado Reserva Palisade Peach, a Golden Sour Ale aged in Oak Barrels with Palisade Peaches (6.17% ABV). This beer highlights the fruit that best expresses the Colorado western slope terroir, with each limited release showcasing the complex depth and quality of the Palisade Peaches and the orchards from which they are sourced. Colorado Reserva Palisade Peach will be available on draught and in 750 ml cork and cage bottles, limit 4 per person.
At 4 PM, Crooked Stave will release our collaboration beer with Falling Rock Tap House for their 20th Anniversary (7.3% ABV). The anniversary beer is a barrel blended sour ale aged in oak with raspberries, blueberries, and marionberries. It will be available on draught and in 750ml cork and cage bottles.
Wednesday, October 4th – Triple Bottle Release: Barrel-Aged Variants of Serenata Notturna
Crooked Stave will be releasing three barrel-aged variants of Serenata Notturna, a Belgian Style Golden Sour Ale (12.0% ABV). Primary fermented in oak foeders with our mixed culture of wild yeast and bacteria, Serenata Notturna is available seasonally as a specialty release inspired by our favorite Christmas carol. We brew this Belgian-style golden strong ale to be enjoyed and shared during the holidays.
At 12 PM, we will release a Serenata Notturna variant aged in a single Laws 4 Grain Whiskey Barrel. This will be available on draught and in 750 ml cork & cage bottles, limit 3 per person.
At 2 PM, we will release a Serenata Notturna variant aged in a single Leopold Bros American Small Batch Whiskey Barrel. This will be available on draught and in 750 ml cork & cage bottles, limit 3 per person.
Our last release of the day will be a Serenata Notturna variant aged in a single Laws Secale Whiskey Barrel at 4 PM. This will be available on draught and in 750 ml cork & cage bottles, limit 3 per person.
Thursday, October 5th – Release of Mama Bears Sour Cherry Pie Harvest 2016 and two Barrel-Aged Variants
To kick of GABF, we will release Mama Bear’s Sour Cherry Pie Harvest 2016 (6.0% ABV) at 12 PM on Thursday. This burgundy sour ale aged in oak barrels with Colorado Montmorency cherries is the result of blending carefully chosen batches of Origins with a heavy-handed addition of cherries sourced from orchards on the Colorado western slope. Our Harvest 2016 release is a truly unique representation of the creativity, experimentation, and proven process that goes into each year’s release. Mama Bear’s Sour Cherry Pie will be available in draught and 750ml bottles cork & cage bottles, limit 4 per person.
We dedicated a small amount of this batch and created two variants. The first is double barrel aged in Woodford Reserve Double Bourbon Barrels (8.0% ABV), and the second is double barrel aged in a single Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrel (7.0% ABV).
Both variants will be available for in 750ml cork & cage bottles (Heaven Hill- limit 1 per person, Woodford Reserve- limit 2 per person) at 4 PM and will be available on draught at 5 PM.
Friday, October 6th – Limited release of four Specialty Bottles from Crooked Stave:
On Friday at 12 PM, we will release Petite Sour Reserva Marionberry (4.5% ABV) in 375ml bottles and on draught. Every so often we find ourselves with exemplary batches that lend themselves perfectly to the new and experimental fruits we don’t often brew with. Produced in small quantities, Petite Sour Reserva is our means to express these limited-edition batches with flavors we are excited about. This particular wild ale is aged in oak with marionberries.
Starting at 4 PM, Crooked Stave will also release three different beers fruited with Colorado cherries in 750 ml cork and cage bottles.
Salvador Cybies, a Belgian Style Dark Sour Ale Double Barrel Aged in Leopold Bros Maryland Style Rye Whiskey Barrels with Colorado Cherries. This Private Reserve Harvest 2016 release is double barrel aged in Leopold Bros Maryland Style Rye Whiskey Barrels with local cherries from our partner farmers on the Colorado western slope. Limit of 3 per person (8.92% ABV).
Colorado Reserva Sour Cherry, a Golden Sour Ale aged in Oak Barrels with Sour Cherries highlights the fruit that best expresses the Colorado western slope terroir, each limited release showcases the complex depth and quality of the Montmorency cherries and the Hotchkiss orchards from which they are sourced. Limit 4 per person (5.64% ABV).
Colorado Reserva Sweet Cherry, a Golden Sour Ale aged in Oak Barrels with Sweet Cherries Highlights the fruit that best expresses the Colorado western slope terroir, each limited release showcases the complex depth and quality of the sweet cherries and the Palisade orchards from which they are sourced. Limit 1 per person (6.06% ABV).
At 5 PM, all three beers will also be available on draught.
Saturday, October 7th – Member Berries Primitivo Release:
To finish off GABF week, Crooked Stave will tap Member Berries Primitivo, a Golden Sour Ale aged in Oak Barrels with Primitivo grapes at 1 PM. For this Harvest 2016 release, we’ve selected a single barrel to balance the heavy-handed addition of Colorado Primitivo grapes, expressing the Colorado western slope terroir from which our fruit is sourced, and a quality that reflects the skilled stewardship of our partner viticulturists. Member Berries Primitivo will also be available for purchase in 1.5L magnums starting at 12 PM.
