UpCup Homebrew Competition and AHA Rally
In a time in which the American beer industry was controlled by a few large mega-breweries, a handful intrepid homebrewers decided to try to make a living doing what they loved: brewing high quality beer full of taste and character.
Not all succeeded, but enough did to start a revolution. Today there are 1,552 packaging breweries and brewpubs in the US, and most brewers still get their start as homebrewers.
In honor of this tradition, and in recognition of the many innovative recipes developed by homebrewers, Upland is hosting the second annual UpCup Homebrew Competition. The winner will receive a trophy, have the chance to brew his/her recipe in our brewhouse alongside head brewer Caleb Staton, and have his/her beer entered in national competitions, such as the Great American Beer Fest Pro-Am Competition. Last year’s winning brew, Sunday Morning in Bamberg Rauchbier, went on to become a United States Beer Tasting Championship Grand Champion!
UpCup festivities, including the announcement of winner, VIP tours, and lots of great food and beer, begin at 4pm on Saturday, May 15th at our Bloomington Banquet Hall (on the brewery grounds, 350 W. 11th St., Bloomington, IN). All are welcome, but because UpCup is an American Homebrewers Association Rally, AHA members will be admitted free.
