Tröegs Brewery Releases Nugget Nectar in Bottles and Draft As you read this, Nugget Nectar is being shipped throughout our seven-state distribution network. We expect to have Nugget Nectar 12-ounce bottles in all markets by January 22.

Nugget Nectar 22 ounce bottles and draft should start being released the first week of February, with a few markets seeing it the prior week.

Finishing at 7.5% abv, Nugget Nectar is an Imperial Amber Ale that draws inspiration from Tröegs’ flagship brand, Hopback Amber Ale. “We start with a base recipe similar to Hopback, but then we take it up a few notches by doubling the malts and tripling the hops,” explains Chris Trogner.

Nugget Nectar features Nugget, Warrior and Tomahawk hops, and uses a six-stage hopping process. “We add hops at four different times during the boil,” explains John Trogner. “After the boil, the wort flows through 25 pounds of hops in our hopback; then it is dry-hopped in the fermentation tank with an additional 50 pounds of hops. While the hops are key to this recipe, the caramel malts give the beer a delicate sweetness that tempers the intense hop flavor.”

Scratch Beer Update
Scratch #16-2008, Winter Warmer, continues to be available in the Tasting Room. Growler fills will be available for another week or so, and bottles should be available for approximately four more weeks.

Scratch #17-2009, Glacier Pils, will be available starting Wednesday, January 14, in cases, six-packs and growlers. Full tasting notes will be available once we taste the beer, but here’s the brewer’s log on Scratch #17-2009:

Scratch #18-2009, Triple Rye Ale, is next in the Scratch Series. There is no release information available at this time.

Tröegs Brewery Opens Massachusetts Market
Tröegs Brewery will begin selling beer throughout Massachusetts starting Monday, January 19.

“We have signed a deal with Seaboard, Craft, and L.Knife Distributors to start selling Tröegs beer throughout Massachusetts,” said Chris Trogner. “We continue to look at new areas as we have the capacity to fill new markets while still developing our current ones. Massachusetts fits into our plan of growing the business in states that are close enough to us that we can deliver beer in a day. We’re excited to be working with L.Knife Distributors and feel they are a nice fit with our business.”

Numerous Tröegs kick-off events are planned around the greater Boston area January 19-21.

Harrisburg Brewers Fest News
The 6th Annual Harrisburg Brewers Fest is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2009 in downtown Harrisburg. There will be two sessions 12-3:30 p.m. and 5-8:30 p.m. with a VIP session from 4-5 p.m.

The event will take place at the same location as previous years with the entrance at the intersection of Second and Locust Streets.
