The Monk’s Kettle to Celebrate Third Anniversary with Vintage Draft Bonanza
San Francisco, CA – The Monk’s Kettle will celebrate growing another year older by opening its cellar and pouring a selection of vintage beer. Six vintage drafts (five of which will be part of a vertical offering) will be available to the public at 5 PM Tuesday, December 14th.
The Monk’s Kettle will be closed to the public after 4 PM on Monday, December 13th, to hold its staff holiday/anniversary party, and will not open the next day until 5 PM. By that time, the vintage kegs will be tapped and available to the public.
Offered on draft will be two Belgian Christmas ales: St. Bernardus Christmas 2009 (glasses of the 2010 vintage will be poured from the bottle) and Avec Les Bons Voeux de la Brasserie DuPont 2009 (glasses of the 2010 vintage will be poured from the bottle). Two Imperial Stouts will be poured: Oskar Blues Ten Fidy 2009 (glasses of the 2008 vintage will be poured from the can) and Nectar Ales Black Xantus 2009 (glasses of the 2010 vintage will be poured from the bottle). There will be a whiskey-barrel aged version of the doppelbock Grand Teton Double Vision 2009. The beer on the Monk’s Kettle’s sour draft line (there is always a sour available on draft) will be the Flanders Red oak-aged greatness that is Rodenbach Grand Cru 2009 (glasses of the 2007 vintage will be poured from the bottle).
The Monk’s Kettle has been aging beer since its opening in 2007, in rows of cases and kegs, in a climate-controlled beer cellar in the basement. The beer is matured and used for beer dinners, special events, or the vintage list. Recently, the Monk’s Kettle expanded its vintage beer program by offering a rotating fifteen-item vintage bottle list.
