The Monk’s Kettle Announces Its Next Three Beer Dinners
The Monk’s Kettle to host Brasserie d’Achouffe, Allagash Brewing Company, and Lagunitas Brewing Company for the next three events in its monthly beer-pairing dinner program.
San Francisco, CA – The Monk’s Kettle is proud to announce the lineup of beer dinners for the next three months. On April 7th will be served a five-course dinner with Belgium’s Brasserie d’Achouffe. The Belgian-style and barrel-aged beers of Portland, Maine’s Allagash will be featured on May 5th. And we will showcase the big, bold beers of local powerhouse Lagunitas Brewing on June 2nd. All of these dinners will include vintage versions of the brewery’s beers including several stored for up to two years in the Monk’s Kettle’s beer cellar.
On April 7th, the Monk’s Kettle will host a five-course dinner to highlight the world-acclaimed beers of Belgium’s Brasserie d’Achouffe, including two that have been aging in the Monk’s Kettle’s beer cellar (McChouffe, brewed Feb 2008, and N’Ice Chouffe, brewed October 2008). In addition to d’Achouffe’s four beers, dinner guests will be greeted with Duvel Green during the welcome hour, and end with the dessert course’s pairing of Ommegang Three Philosophers, a Belgian Quadrupel brewed with cherries (all three breweries share a parent company in Duvel-Moortgat). Most seats for this event were reserved by members of the Monk’s Kettle’s beer dinner club, the Sip and Supper Society, and sold out quickly.
On May 5th, the Monk’s Kettle will host Portland, Maine’s Allagash Brewing Company. Begun in 1995 by Rob Tod as a one-man operation, Allagash has developed a national reputation for its high-quality Belgian-style and barrel-aged beers. The Monk’s Kettle will offer, among others, last year’s anniversary beer, Fluxus 2009, and a 2008 version of Curieux, a Bourbon barrel-aged Belgian Tripel.
A local Bay Area favorite, Lagunitas Brewing Company, will be featured on June 2nd. The evening’s offerings will include limited release cellared strong ales, cask-conditioned variations on their regular brews, and fresh versions of their powerfully hoppy beers.
The Monk’s Kettle hosts a beer-pairing dinner every month (usually the first Wednesday of the month, schedule permitting). These dinners are five to seven courses, designed to highlight a brewery or beer region. Past dinners include the Bay Area’s brewing cult figure Brian Hunt of Moonlight Brewing, the groundbreaking craft beer importers the Shelton Brothers, and the recent Bay Area debut event of Eugene, Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewing Co. The calendar of future events has been filled for the next year.
