The Hollywood Theatre Presents Ferris Bueller’s Day Off At Burnside Brewing
Portland, OR – The historic Hollywood Theatre is proud to team up with Burnside Brewing Company to present the final outdoor screening of the summer! School is back in session and what better way to re-live the carefree days of summer than with the 1986 classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off?
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was directed by 80’s legend John Hughes who also wrote and directed Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Weird Science as well as many other modern classics. It will be showing at the brewery as part of our FREE summer outdoor screening series! A portion of all food and beverage sales will benefit the Hollywood Theatre marquee project. There will also be delicious Chicago style sausages served up and named after Abe Froman, the Sausage King of Chicago!
The film stars Matthew Broderick as the aforementioned Ferris Bueller, a high school wiseguy who decides to fake an illness and make the most out of his day off. He enlists the services of his girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara) and best friend Cameron (Alan Ruck) to join him as the trio take the streets of Chicago by storm (or Ferrari). They don’t have it easy though as they have to constantly evade the suspicious Dean of Students Edward Rooney and Ferris’s jealous sister Jeanie (80’s sensation Jennifer Grey) along with his unsuspecting parents. Ben Stein and Charlie Sheen also make memorable appearances in the film.
Come out and enjoy the waning days of summer with a tasty beer, an Abe Froman and a classic movie! Admission is free, how can you beat that? Anyone? Anyone?
