Swift Half Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day With Week of $3 Swift Halfs and Irish Snacks
Philadelphia, Pa – Beginning on Tuesday, March 16, Northern Liberties’ cozy neighborhood pub Swift Half will offer a week-long special: $3 Swift Half Pints and $3 Irish Snacks in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Wednesday, March 17.
Located in the thriving Piazza at Schmidts (2nd Street and Germantown Avenue), Swift Half is an ideal place to enjoy a beer – or several – on St. Patrick’s Day with friends.
“A ‘swift half’ is slang for a quick pint on the way home from work, and St. Patrick’s Day represents an opportunity to indulge in one or several,” says owner David Garry, who is a native of Cork, Ireland. “We’ll be running our $3 specials through Sunday, so that our guests can enjoy a ‘swift half’ each night or toast with friends again and again to celebrate the holiday.”
Chef Jessica O’Donnell has created a menu of Irish-inspired $3 snacks for the occasion, including: Stuffed Cabbage; Traditional Boxty with applesauce; Ham and Cheese Pierogies with Guinness brown butter; Mini Fish and Chips; and Bangers in a Blanket. $3 beer offerings will include interpretations of Irish styles, including Sly Fox’s O’Reilly Stout, a Pennsylvania-brewed Irish stout.
Swift Half is open from 11:30 a.m. until 2 a.m. daily and serves food until 1 a.m. seven days a week, including lunch and dinner on weekdays and a weekend brunch every Saturday and Sunday. Owned and operated by David Garry and Heather Gleason of downtown’s wildly popular Good Dog Bar & Restaurant, The Swift Half opened in 2009 and features upscale comfort food from Chef O’Donnell alongside an extensive selection of local craft beers and a seasonal menu of cocktails and wine in a relaxed, friendly setting.
