Rubicon Hosts Women In Brewing 2011 Event
Sacramento, CA-On Saturday, April 16th, 2011, the Rubicon Brewing Company will host their fifth annual Women in Brewing event. This event highlights the achievements of women in the brewing industry by showcasing their beers, provides information on the history of women in the industry, and gives current information about women brewing beer in California today. The event also gives women brewers the opportunity to network with each other about their craft in a lively setting.
From the beginning, Women in Brewing has been a benefit for the local Sacramento charity WEAVE (Women Escaping A Violent Environment), which provides resources for families suffering from abuse. WEAVE is the primary provider of crisis intervention services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Sacramento County.
It is WEAVE’s mission to bring an end to domestic violence and sexual assault in partnership with the community. WEAVE’s vision is a community free of violence and abuse. WEAVE staff and volunteers believe that crisis intervention services are only part of the solution.
This charity’s valuable work in the community deserves our support, and we are proud to say that we have raised over $10,000 for WEAVE through the Women in Brewing event. Rubicon brewing company has a long tradition of helping out local charities, both with the annual Midtown Community Festival, which benefits the Boys and Girls Club, as well as through its’ popular 501c Wednesdays, in which different charities benefit by hosting an event at the Rubicon.
The Rubicon will have a unique variety of beers on tap the day of the event. Stone Brewing Company, Blue Frog & Grog, Moylan’s Brewing Company, Sierra Nevada, and a host of other breweries have crafted special brews, some of them specifically for this event. The Rubicon itself will have two special beers on tap brewed by women on their staff. Event planner Rachael Soules, who brewed a pale ale with Rubicon’s brewers Al Griffin and Matthew McKinnon said, “The only way brewing beer could possibly be more fun is making it with this excellent cause in mind. We’re really excited about the event.” There will also be great food specials and a silent auction to benefit WEAVE the day of the event. Customers can enjoy lovingly handcrafted beers, great food, and even chat with a brewer or two, all while supporting a worthy charity.
In conjunction with this event, a promotional event will be held on Second Saturday, April 9th at Barber’s Automotive. There will be live music and Rubicon beer on tap.
Come on down and support WEAVE and women in the brewing industry at either of these fun events!
