Support the Pink Boots Society at Three Weavers Brewing on June 22

Full-disclosure. I, Franny Fullpint, do lots o’ beer stuff. Sure, I’ve been a member of TFP family for the past few years, but what you may not know about me is that I’m pretty deep into my local beer community. While I don’t discredit the trials and tribulations of other women in the industry, you, our awesome readers, have been nothing but kind.  I must admit, I’m pretty lucky.

Sure, there may be times where we don’t like the same beer…or maybe we didn’t quite feel the same way about how a festival or event was executed. But at the end of the day, I’ve always felt like a Full Pint equal. At my day job at Golden Road Brewing, women out-number men in my office most of the day and we cross-departmentally respect each other again, as equals. And at the L.A. Brewers Guild, where I sit on a committee that puts together L.A Beer Week? Pretty much the same. Strong beer-loving women among strong beer-loving men.

Crazy, right? I understand that this isn’t always the case. As society attempts to tear down gender norms (whaddup, equal pay), there is still a real struggle here. This is why I support the Pink Boots Society.

I’ve never been the sorority type. Most of my friends are dudes. And yet, I am so passionately drawn into this female-led organization because they are trying to level an often unequal playing field. I’m proud to be in a community that is not afraid to welcome female CEOs, female Marketing Directors, female Distributors, and countless of badass female brewers. Education through the Pink Boots Society helps nurture this. The scholarship opportunities available with PBS range from the Siebel to UC Davis brewing intensives; Hop Courses…the list goes on.

As a founding member of the Pink Boots Society Los Angeles Chapter, I couldn’t begin to tell you how rad our group of beer ladies are. But we want more women to prosper and you (whether male or female) can help with that… by drinking beer.

With that said, we hope that you can join us on Monday, June 22 for a Pink Boots LA Takeover at Three Weavers Brewing. Our Chapter Leader Alexandra Nowell (Three Weavers Brewmaster) and Lynne Weaver (Three Weavers Owner) have graciously surrendered their tasting room to PBS for an evening of amazing beers. $20, five 5oz. pours, and 100% go to the PBS scholarship fund. The event is from 4-9pm and is in conjunction with L.A. Beer Week. Tickets are available here.
