Party At Sprecher For The Inaugural Batch Of Wiscsonsin Fresh Hop Special Amber

Celebrate the Wisconsin Hop Harvest at Sprecher’s 1st Annual Wisconsin Fresh Hop Special Amber Party!

Glendale, WI – Friday evening, November 18th, Sprecher hosts its 1st Annual Wisconsin Fresh Hop Special Amber party to commemorate the release of its inaugural beer made with 200 pounds of Wisconsin cascade hops selected by Randy Sprecher at Wakatsch Farms in Wausau. Since fresh hops have a short life span, Sprecher drove them back to the brewery where brewmaster Craig Burge added all 200 pounds to a base brew of Special Amber. After five weeks of aging, forty barrels were ready to be tapped.

According to Randy Sprecher, “These Wisconsin cascade hops are not as strong as Oregon cascades, which most people are familiar with. Because their flavor profile is more subtle the hops do not add much in the way of aroma but their acids impart a nice change in mouth feel and slight resin character to the finish. This beer has good drinkability. Cheers, Wisconsin!”

And cheers we will at Sprecher Brewery on November 18th. Tours are offered at 5pm and 6pm. The Lounge Lizards provide musical entertainment beginning at 7pm. Partake in the well-known and competitive Bavarian contest, the Masskrugstemmen (Real Strong Man). The challenge? Hold a stein of beer with your arm extended for as long as you can, which is not as easy as it sounds. The prize? A case of Sprecher beer.
