Oregon Brewers Take Aim For Portland’s Cheers To Belgian Beers
Brewers Compete to Select Styles for Upcoming Festival
What: On Tuesday, January 5, 2009, dozens of Oregon’s finest brewmasters will gather at Portland’s Horse Brass Pub to test fate, and their dart skills, as they select brewing styles for the 4th Annual Portland’s Cheers to Belgian Beers event.
Portland’s Cheers to Belgian Beers started three years ago to introduce Oregonians to the breadth of style and flavors of Belgian beers. The event has grown from 10 beers in 2007 to 28 beers in 2009. The 2010 event will take place on May 1st at Hopworks Urban Brewery.
The annual dart throwing event was started in 2009 as a way to impartially diversify the styles produced by participating breweries for the event. Each brewer throws a dart to determine what style of beer he or she will produce for the festival.
