Omaha Beer Fest Moves To A New Midtown Venue
Omaha, NE – The second annual Omaha Beer Fest will take place this spring at a new venue: Aksarben Village’s Stinson Park. The new venue will give Nebraska’s growing craft beer culture more room to taste and appreciate specialty brews from all over the country at what is expected to be the largest craft beer festival in Nebraska. The Omaha Beer Fest will take place Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19, during American Craft Beer Week.
Over 150 unique craft beers will be available for tasting from 40 breweries, including Boulevard Brewing Company (Kansas City), Green Flash (San Diego) and Ska Brewing (Durango, CO). Brewers and representatives from many of the breweries will be on hand to sample their crafts and meet their fans.
Seminars, comparative tastings and special pairings will be offered throughout the event at the on-site Beer Academy. The Beer Academy classes, sponsored by Nebraska Beer Blog, will include Wisconsin Cheese’s Extreme Beer and Cheese Pairing and Ska Brewing’s Beer and Cupcake Pairing with Jones Bros Cupcakes. Four bands will perform throughout the weekend, including Omaha favorites Manouche Moustache, Funk Trek and eNVy, as well as Denver’s The Polkanauts.
The Mojo Smokehouse & Ales VIP Experience will take place on Saturday, May 19, where lucky guests will enjoy early festival entry, access to the MOJO LOUNGE, delicious foods prepared by the chefs at Mojo, as well as specialty beers not available in the brewery tents.
To kick off the festival, Boulevard Brewing Co will present Connoisseur Night on Thursday, May 17 at 1316 Jones, taking beer enthusiasts through a tasting by Spiegelau Glassware to demonstrate the impact the glass makes on taste and overall experience of the beer.
Attendance to all events supports Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, the official festival beneficiary. Media sponsors include Z-92, ESPN AM, CD 105.9, Channel 94.1 and Omaha Magazine. Corporate sponsors include Aksarben Village, Courtyard by Marriott Aksarben Village, and Deffenbaugh.
Omaha Beer Fest is produced by Urban Events, Inc. Urban Events also produces the annual Riverfront Wine Festival and Omaha Restaurant Week.
