GABF Coverage: Day 1
The 2010 Great American Beer Festival is off to a great start! Selling out five weeks in advance and breaking previous ticket sales records with 49,000 attendees, there is no doubt that this is THE premiere craft beer event.
Brewers have come out from all around the country, promoting not only their regular line-up, but also showcasing some of their special releases. The GABF presents a unique opportunity for craft beer fans to meet the people behind their favorite brews while getting a chance to discover newer breweries on the block.
Out of the 455 breweries pouring in the exhibit hall, there were definitely fan favorites. Some of the largest lines could be found at the booths of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, The Lost Abbey, and New Glarus Brewing Company (New Glarus actually ran out of beer!).
A non-beer highlight was the American Cheese Society, there in full force serving a delightful spread of American artisan cheeses, the perfect complement to the amazing beers being poured. In fact, the line for the cheese booth may have rivaled even the longest lines for beer!
