Hello Hop Freaks and Beer Geeks!
As many of you may know, one of the largest beer festivals in the world is coming to Denver, Colorado September 16th-18th. The 2010 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) will feature over 500 different craft breweries from across the country and attract nearly 50,000 beer loving fans to the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. With the GABF and virtually the entire state celebrating craft beer, Colorado is a great place to be a beer lover for the third week in September, to say the least!
Our entire crew here at Avery Brewing Company is excited to play host to this circus. If you can’t make it out for a visit this year, we recommend you make plans for 2011. For those of you who will be here, this is a complete breakdown of Avery-centric events going on for GABF week. Have fun and please be safe!

Special Tappings and Extended Hours. Monday, September 13th to Sunday, September 19th
Big, sour, hoppy, crazy, complex, interesting, odd and world-class, they’ll all be there at the Avery Tap Room for the week of the Great American Beer Festival!
The Great COntenders
Saturday, September 11th from 5 – 8:30PM
Featuring over twenty of Colorado’s best breweries serving taster portions of previous GABF medal winners, stellar beers entered into the 2010 GABF judging, and other extra-rare or soon-to-be released liquid treats. It all goes down at Wynkoop Brewing in Denver on September 11th.
The Society for the Pursuit of Hoppiness
Aged Ale & Cheese Night. Tuesday, September 14th from 6PM to 8PM.
Spend the evening in the Avery Barrel Aging Cellars tasting exotic ale and cheese pairings and learning about upcoming releases in our Barrel-Aged Series of beers. The event is $15 for existing members and $30 for new members for a lifetime membership. RSVP to [email protected] if you are interested in attending.
Lannies Clocktower Cabaret
Beers and Burlesque – Tasting and Tassels. Tuesday, September 14th at 7PM
A sampling of many Avery beers poured by Avery brewers paired with food and a live burlesque show from the beautiful young ladies of Lannies.
RackHouse Pub
Colorado Rare Beer Tasting. Wednesday, September 15th from 6PM to 9PM
Meet Avery Head Microbiologist Rob Christiansen and sample Fumator, a strong, smoked ale aged in Stranahan’s Whiskey barrels. Also sample tons of other great beers from an array of Colorado Craft Brewers.
Boulder County Brews Cruise
Wednesday, September 15th
Tickets are still available for the bus with stops at Avery Brewing, Boulder Beer, Left Hand and Oskar Blues.

GABF Pre-Party. Thursday, September 16th from 2PM-4PM
Meet Avery brewers and taste the latest creations from our Barrel-Aging Cellars. Quinquepartite Barrel-Aged Sour Ale and Depuceleuse Barrel-Aged Wild Ale will be on hand to taste. Just 4 blocks from convention center.

Tickets are $80 each and include tastings of more than 20 rare, exotic and hard to find beers; a chance to meet some of America’s top brewers; a tasting glass; beer guide program; and hors d’oeuvres.
Falling Rock Tap House
Avery Brewing Tapping Party. Friday, September 17th at 10PM
The Falling Rock Tap House will be bringing up 3-4 kegs of aged Avery brews from their cellar.

A collection of sour beers from some of Colorado’s top craft brewers, including our Altar Boy Barrel-Aged Sour Ale.

These are all the scheduled tappings we’ve planned for the week, but rest assured that you’ll see myriad other aged, dry-hopped and rare oddities making appearances throughout the week. As always, we’ll have 21 other Avery beers on tap, including many brews only available at the Tap Room.
