Flying Fish’s “F.U. Sandy” Fundraising Brew Debuts 2/16 In NJ & Philly
This Saturday, Flying Fish Encourages Beer Drinkers To Grab A Pint Of Forever Unloved (f. U.) Sandy, To Raise Monies For Nj Victims Of Superstorm Sandy
Somerdale, NJ – On Saturday, February 16, New Jersey’s largest craft brewery, Flying Fish Brewing Company, will officially debut Forever Unloved (F. U.) Sandy, a hybrid wheat-pale ale, with 100% of proceeds going to New Jersey victims of 2012’s Superstorm Sandy. More than 75 restaurants, bars and retail stores throughout New Jersey and Philadelphia have purchased the fundraising brew and this weekend, many will be serving and tapping F.U. Sandy in celebration of the never-give-up spirit of the Jersey Shore, much of which was decimated by the historic storm last October.
“This Saturday, we are encouraging all beer lovers to head out and drink a few pints for the Jersey Shore,” Flying Fish Founder Gene Muller. “Every single aspect of this beer, from the man-hours spent brewing it to the hops used to season it to the kegs that will contain it, has been donated – so every cent brought in will go to Superstorm Sandy victims.”
The F.U. Sandy brew produced 86 kegs of beer, all of which have been sold to local outlets. Sales of F.U. Sandy will generate approximately $45,000, which will be awarded to select grassroots NJ-based charitable organizations dedicated to Superstorm Sandy relief.
F. U. Sandy will be available at all of the following bars, restaurants and distributors. Locations designated with a * will be tapping F.U. Sandy this Saturday, February 16. For the other locations listed, interested beer drinkers should contact them directly:

F. U. Sandy was brewed with a 50/50 blend of Two Row Pale Malt and American White Wheat. It is hopped with experimental hop ADHA 483, donated by the American Dwarf Hop Association, which has never been used in a beer before this one. Muller and Head Brewer Casey Hughes expect a beautiful, tropical nose of mangoes and guavas that will accentuate the beer’s soft mouthfeel and contribute to a truly one-of-a-kind ale – much like their beloved Jersey shore. Muller and many Flying Fish employees are proud NJ residents, and they hope that by brewing and selling this special beer, they can help to support the renaissance of the iconic but heavily storm-damaged shore.
In 2012, Flying Fish moved into a new facility in Somerdale, making it the largest brewery built in the state since prohibition. The move will ultimately allow Flying Fish to quadruple production. The facility boasts many sustainability features, enabling them to brew beer in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Flying Fish produces a range of beers year-round as well as some seasonal specialties. They also produce the Exit Series, a special selection of beers highlighting the state through the various exits of the New Jersey Turnpike.
