Live Blues bands are scheduled to play throughout the day and lucky beer lovers will enjoy pint glass giveaways with the purchase of a beer as well as a chance to meet the brewers, Kelly and Lindsey Meyer, NBBC’s official “Brewdude” and “Brewdudette”. The duo will be on hand to talk beer, answer questions and raise a pint in honor of the launch. Stop by for lunch and try a special pairing from the Bacon Bus, a German style sandwich that works seamlessly with Luftweiss or for those bold enough to stick around all day, savor a Schnitzel Dinner plate with German taters and kraut. Enter the “best toast” contest held in the early evening for the chance to win even more New Braunfels Brewing and Craft Pride schwag.
Opening its doors in February 2013, Craft Pride is a Texas-only craft beer bar featuring 54 taps of high quality regional brews. From half pints to beer flights, the bar provides craft beer lovers and casual drinkers with local favorites and hard-to-find styles from across the state. Carrying something for everyone, Craft Pride also offers a variety of Texas wines as well as a retail space known as the Bottle Shop, for patrons to order their favorite beer to-go.
Officially founded in 1925 and reincarnated in early 2011 to the brewery it is today, New Braunfels Brewing Company is located in historic downtown New Braunfels. Each beer is crafted and specifically designed to reflect the community, refresh the palette and is overall fun to drink.
About the Beer
LuftWeiss is made with very pale malts to lighten the body and make the beer more drinkable and refreshing. It is a hefeweizen crafted for the climate and palates of TX. To make it, a very small amount of pale wheat malt is combined with white wheat and pilsner barley malt, resulting in a straw color and a light body. NBBC uses German-style Perle hops to add a slight bitterness and finish with American Cascade hops to add just the right hint of citrus. The real flavor comes from the choice of yeast strain. It is a very old yeast from Germany that produces rich clove, vanilla and banana flavors. Their special fermentation schedule produces these flavors in balance with the beer itself so it isn’t as prominent as a traditional hefeweizen. IBU: 20 / Alcohol: 4.7% ABV
