Boundary Bay Is Throwing An Earth Day Party!
Join our Earth Day Party in the Beer Garden – April 22nd!
This April marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and we are throwing a party here at Boundary Bay Brewery to celebrate! Join us on Thursday, April 22nd for a BBQ in the Beer Garden, live music by Robert Blake and an Earth Day inspired Sustainability Fair!
So far, we have organizations like WTA, Smart Trips, the Pro Transit movement, Sustainable Connections and Make.Shift involved. We also have Grow Northwest (a brand new publication focusing on local eating, DIY crafts, etc.) coming to debut their magazine. We’ll be raffling off bus passes and giving workshops on how to fix bike flats. We’ll have a bike loaded up with groceries for people to try riding around the block and a bike generator that lets people produce their own energy to light up the attached bulbs. We also have Ralf’s Bavarian Bakery coming to exemplify a small, local business who uses only organic, local ingredients and runs his business in the most sustainable way possible.
Other local businesses like Cloud Mountain Farms, Barlean’s Fishery and Uprising Seeds will be on hand to help show you just how easy it is to be sustainable and local! We want to make this an afternoon of raising the awareness of what great local options we have for making sustainable choices. Becca Shwarz Cole, co-publisher of Grow Northwest, says “The Northwest has so much to offer in terms of food production, sustainable living and the DIY ethic. There is real passion here for supporting the local economy and those who grow, make, produce and create.” And that’s exactly what we want to celebrate on this 40th anniversary of Earth Day!
Join us. Thursday, April 22nd, 4pm. All ages. FREE!
