Beachwood BBQ Zwanze Day Brunch | In Photos
Last weekend I had the pleasure of participating in Beachwood BBQ’s Zwanze Day celebrations. While the folklore behind this mysterious beer is often debated, one thing was for certain during last weekend’s festivities: this was one of the hottest (and most beer geekiest) tickets of the summer. Brasserie Cantillon announced the 46 locations that would be participating earlier in the summer and left fans at the edge of their seats trying to find out when tickets would be available for this annual toast. Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach was one of the southern California locations and they did a phenomenal job.
One can’t help but be concerned about an event of this magnitude. I’ve been to other Zwanze Day celebrations that seemed a little more crowded than I’d prefer which is why many fans ultimately decide to steer clear of this event. Owner Gabe Gordon and his Beachwood crew however, ran their event like champs by breaking the event into two sessions for Brunch and Lunch. Every ticket-holder was guaranteed a seat, a glass, and four tickets to redeem pours of Zwanze and three other highly coveted Cantillon beers. While Beachwood did sell out of tickets within minutes of sale, their customer service throughout the whole process from start to finish was top notch. A help-yourself breakfast buffet satiated our early-rising palates for a lovely Saturday of rare sours; supplemented by a well-curated list of additional beers from Beachwood’s list. The intimate and happy crowd were well on their way just past noon in order to make room for the next round of lucky ticket-holders. Stress-free! Kudos, Beachwood BBQ!
