What do you get when you take Iron Chef, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, the burgeoning Colorado craft beer scene, and mix them with new school Denver fusion cuisine? The first ever Pairing Challenge at Bauer’s Restaurant in Denver! (1512 Curtis Street Denver, Colorado 80202) $60/ person plus tax and gratuity
On Tuesday, April 7th, Ted Whitney and Kellner Schoenke of Boulder’s Avery Brewing Company will square off against against Sommeliers representing Bauer’s wine cellar and Sake experts representing the spirits industry in the first ever Pairing Challenge. The contestants will choose 5 libations from their respective area of expertise (craft beer, wine and saki) to compliment the menu prepared by Bauer’s Restaurant. An audience of diners will judge the contestants and declare a winner!
First Course
crab and watermelon salad with feta, mint, kalamata olive, spinach and arugula
Second Course
almond crusted rabbit loin with warm brussels sprout, grilled radicchio and grape salad
Third Course
grilled tuna with sweet pepper gnocchi and shiitake mushroom broth
Fourth Course
Pistachio semifreddo with strawberry-champagne consommé

Team Baur’s – Wine
Matt Jackson and Parker Ramey will pair the evening’s menu with wine from Baur’s diverse and award-winning wine list.
Team Avery – Craft Beer
Ted Whitney and Kellner Shoenke will provide the local flavor with a lineup of Colorado craft beer.
Team Synergy- Sake
Simon Illman and Rob Krupp will take us across the Pacific with exciting sake pairings.
