Nominations for Best Mid-West Craft Brewery!
As we wrap up our poll for Best Down-South Craft Brewery, we are starting to plan out our Best Mid-West Craft Brewery. With that said, please use the comment feature of this posting to suggest breweries we didn’t think of for the upcoming Best Mid-West Craft Brewery Poll. Being headquartered out of Southern California, we can only conduct so much research on a region we don’t get to visit often. According to Wikipedia, these are the Mid-West States: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Here is our short list that we plan to include in on the poll. The poll will be launched March 28, 2009.

Backroad Brewing
Bell’s
Boulevard Brewing
Dark Horse Brewing Co.
Flying Monkey Brewing Co.

You can’t beat the offerings by RAHR Brewers in Fort Worth, TX. They have ales with so much sparkle you have to wear shades! Great people too. Drop in and see them, they’ll pour you a cold one.

Columbus Brewing Company (Ohio) should be in that list. Always known for their fine beers, it’s a shame their name doesn’t pop up more often. And let me tell you…their IPA is…well, it’s nectar! I’ve tasted a lot of IPAs, and even though it sounds biased – me being from Columbus and all, I’d have to say that Columbus IPA is one of the best kept secrets in the world of hop heads. An incredible beer! And now available in bottles. Word is they can’t keep up with the demand. Whole Foods in Dublin can’t keep enough of it. The Andersons, Giant Eagle, Hill’s Market, etc. Funny thing is, many folks purchasing Columbus IPA are also buying the “new” 60’s Schlitz as their session beer. Go figure.
