Saint Archer Brewing – 2nd Anniversary Pictures & Interview
(San Diego, CA) – Saturday May 23rd Saint Archer Brewing Company held their 2 year anniversary celebration and I was lucky enough to hang out with Nick Marron (Lead Brewer) and some of the Saint Archer crew for the party. The house was packed and the vibe was great. Blood Orange White, Grapefruit Pale, Passion Fruit Red Berliner Weisse were some of the delightful beers being poured for this event with Grapefruit being a highlight for me.Nick was kind enough to take a take me around the brewery for photos and to answer a few questions during the party.
What are you most proud of since joining Saint Archer?
My proudest moment personally, is being named Lead Brewer 3 months ago. It took a lot of work to get to this point and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow as a brewer. As far as the company is concerned, I’m super proud of winning a bronze medal at this years Bistro Double IPA festival in Hayward.
Who do you look up too at Saint Archer and why?
Brewmaster Kim Lutz. Her recipe development is unlike any other I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. She keeps bangin’ out the hits: Double IPA, Mosaic IPA, Coffee Cream Porter. Those beers are all excellent examples of Kim’s philosophy as well as her constant pursuit of excellence, while never settling for mediocrity.
What has most changed for you from anniversary 1 to 2?
My role has changed pretty monumentally here in the past year. A year ago, I was brewing core beers (Blonde, IPA, Pale, and White) everyday and really developing my skillset. Now, I work heavily with training new brewers and cellarmen, as well as have a voice at the table when discussing the direction of the beers, the new beers we want to brew, and logistics of an ever expanding brewery.
What goal would you like to achieve by anniversary 3?
I would like to see our specialty/ seasonal program expanded. Brewing new beers, and working on my own personal recipe development is the next step for my growth.
When will the Double IPA sold in 6 pks?
When we can brew enough of it! That beer is probably our most demanded beer, but we would like to put it in six packs soon!
