The Bay Area Brewers Guild today announced that the SF Beer Week Opening Gala, California’s premier craft beer community celebration, will return to Pier 35 on San Francisco’s waterfront on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019. Both the evening Gala ticket and its sought-after early-bird VIP variation will go on sale at the Guild’s sfbeerweek.org website on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 10:30 am Pacific Time.
The SF Beer Week Opening Gala is a cherished annual event, both for beer fans and for approximately 120 participating independent craft brewers from throughout Northern California. At least 300 rare beers, old favorites, the newest releases and intriguing one-off experiments will be tapped. Fans of artisan beers from around the Bay and beyond will attend, meeting local brewers and toasting the latest examples of the craft beer renaissance.
This year, five original beers will be designed and brewed in collaboration by the five chapters of the expanded Bay Area Brewers Guild, representing the North Bay, East Bay, South Bay, Monterey Coastal region and San Francisco proper. Fans of creative brewing will have a chance to taste these five unique beers at the Gala and choose their favorite.
Stretching all around SF Bay, as far south as Monterey County, east into the Livermore Valley as well as north into the Napa-Sonoma beer country, this year’s Beer Week can be followed at sfbeerweek.org, where craft fans can subscribe to announcements and, eventually, sift through hundreds of intriguing event listings.
The Bay Area Brewers Guild, formed in 2004 as the San Francisco Brewers Guild, is a non-profit trade association representing the region’s independent craft breweries. Our mission is to preserve the Greater Bay Area’s brewing heritage; advocate on behalf of members; partner with artisan producers in the food, beverage, hospitality and agricultural industries; educate the greater public; and unite those who make local beer with those who love it.
