Stone Brewing Co – The Alchemist/Ninkasi/Stone More Brown than Black IPA – 12 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 7.4% abv.
Appearance: Pours a dark rootbeer brown with a very thin layer of froth and bubbles. Light doesn’t get through the body. Leaves insane lacing.
Aroma: Right out of the foil pack hop pellets,I’d say Amarillo or similar variety of danky hop (Editors note– Went back and saw that there is no Amarillo) . That’s it.
Taste: Citrusy floral danky green hop, sturdy pine bitterness, toasted malt. Finishes with clean bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, somewhat juicy with average carbonation.
Overall: Tasty and very fresh . There wasn’t much “brown” malt presence, if you closed your eyes, you were just drinking a really green IPA.
