Stone Smoked Porter Aged in Lowland Scotch Whiskey Barrels
From Dan – This beer has been making it’s way around finer bars during LA Beer Week as well as Stone Company Stores across Southern California.
Stone Brewing Co. – Stone Smoked Porter Aged in Lowland Scotch Whiskey Barrels – On draft at 38 Degrees Alehouse – 5.9% abv.
Appearance: Pours a dark tea brown with a thin tan head. Leaves a good deal of creamy lacing behind.
Aroma: Dark sour cherry, whiskey, chocolate roast.
Taste: Black forest cake, earthy woody whiskey.
Mouthfeel: Thin side of medium bodied, prickly carbonation.
Overall: This beer rocks, has the slightest bit of tartness and tons of barrel character. For me, it doesn’t resemble it’s base beer, Stone Smoked Porter at this point, so whether you like that beer or not, give this a fair try, you might like it like I do. It will be interesting to see if this makes the 12oz. or 500 ml. format eventually.

The abv is actually 9.2. Got a growler from the main brewery and they hand wrote 9.2 on the sticker.
