Societe The Butcher
From Societe Brewing – Tons of roasted/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, espresso bean and wet earth notes. Ends in’s burnt chocolate/ dark roast coffee note. Mouthfeel is smooth and velvety without ever really showing the ABV. Really nicely done. Make sure you like them really dark before you touch this one.
Societe Brewing – Societe The Butcher – From growler courtesy of Conor – 9.8% abv.
Appearance: Pours dark brown with nary a head and sparse swirls looking down.
Aroma: Roast, rich chocolate brownie, cereal, walnuts, fudge, light herbal hops, vanilla.
Taste: Burnt roast, black coffee, dark chocolate cake, anise, alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Thick, coating.
Overall: The best Imperial Stout I may have ever tried. I know I sound ridiculous saying this, but it doesn’t need any barrel treatment.
