Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat
I got a great deal on a 12 pack of Samuel Adams Summer Favorites. I have had Cherry Wheat many times, but never did tasting notes on it. Here it goes!
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat
12 oz bottle poured into a chilled pilsner glass. Around 5.2% abv.
Appearance: Highly active and carbonated, starts with a big head that subsides into about an inch of dense foam.
Aroma: Maraschino cherries and or a cherry air freshener for a car.
Taste: Light, non offensive light lager covered with artificial cherry flavoring. Finishes with a bit of a bready yest flavor, but the cherry outweighs it ultimately.
Mouthfeel: Thin and crisp. The fruit flavor doesn’t stick to your mouth for long. A small bit of sourness hits the back of your tongue, but that too, subsides.
Overall: If you like fruit beers, this might be a good one for you. On a summer day, I could drink two of these tops, which coincidentally is how many came in the summer pack. Might be too fruity for someone who enjoys beer, but might be enjoyed by someone who otherwise passes on beer due to the bitter stigma that comes from mass produced beer.

Sam’s Cherry Wheat became one of my top beers after I tried it last week. I love the cherry taste! Its a break from my normal beer, the dark stout Guinness, but this is definitely my summer beverage of choice now! Now, if I can only get a hold of a steedy summer inventory in Washingston Co. Maine!!

This is one of the 3 beers that Samuel Adams paired with food at a Beer Dinner in Denver last month. This was the beer they used for the dessert course. They poured this beer over vanilla ice cream and 2 cherries and put a crunchy cookie-like tube in the middle that acted like a straw. Was quite good!
