Russian River Brewing Company – Consecration – 750 ml bottle poured into proper glassware. 10 % abv. Purchased at Whole Foods Market, Arroyo Pasadena,CA. Batch 001×2
Appearance: Dark mahogany with a fluffy 1 inch head.
Aroma: Red wine, cherries, raspberries and mildew I would associate with old clothing in a wet basement and oak.
Taste: Sweet and tangy cherries, oak. The oak lends some bitterness that complements the sourness from the fruit and bugs.
Mouthfeel: Surprisingly not puckering or juicy (two characteristics I find from Sour like ales). What I do get is a full bodied and almost creamy texture.
Overall: An amazing beer that you should try even if you don’t like sour beer.
