Review – Victory Old Horizontal
Barley wine style ale poured from a 12 oz bottle, clocking in at 11 % abv.
Appearance: Very dark red, almost brown. 1/2 inch head that retains well after the pour. Tons of lacing.
Aroma: Salty, malty goodness. Dried dark and tropical fruits.
Taste: Semi-sweet cocoa, hops, plums and raisins. Starts sweet and finishes in a pleasant bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Syrupy and sparkly.
Overall: In a dead tie with all my other favorite barley wines. This had an “enjoy by date” of 2011, and seemed like a very matured offering. I could almost compare this to a well aged Bigfoot.
