Review – The Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter
TFP: This is our first review of a The Duck Rabbit beer. They have quite a following, so we had to go to the underground in order go get a sample of one of their beers. TFP’s Big Mike said it best, “Good pulled pork, and now good beer comes from North Carolina!”
The Duck Rabbit Brewing Co. – The Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter – 12 oz. bottle poured into a taster glass. 9% abv. Acquired through trade.
Appearance: Midnight brown, almost no head, but a ring of tan at the top.
Aroma: Dark roasted malts, dark chocolate and news print.
Taste: Coffee, roasted malts, finishes with a slightly sour twang and burnt malts.
Mouthfeel: Quite thick, and carbonated.
Overall: The malts were a little too burnt for my liking. There are tons of people who love Old Rasputin, which I also find to have an overly burnt malt profile to it. There is no doubt about it, this is still a well crafted beer, and I would recomend it to anyone to try, as it is big and unique.
