Konings Hoeven Quadruple Trappist Ale
From Koningshoeven: Quadrupel sit at the top of the Koningshoeven range. At 10% alcohol by volume, it’s a big deep amber beer with a rich, warming flavor. Full-bodied and mild, slightly sweet and just a hint of bitterness round out the palate. In the nose you will detect fruit, a faint, pleasant yeastiness and just a touch of resiny hops.
De Koningsnoeven – Quadruple Trappist Ale (La Trappe Quadruple) – 750ml. bottle poured into a goblet. 10% abv. Purchased at Certified Market – Monrovia, CA
Appearance: Pours a cloudy plum color, letting a little bit of light through. On top is a 1/4 inch of white head.
Aroma: Belgian yeast, spices, bread.
Taste: Bread crust, fruity belgian yeast, dark fruits, spicy hops, and a little bit of bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Fizzy, and perfect thickness.
Overall: Very enjoyable, not overly complex, and would pair well with roasted meats.

this is just an awesome beer, has a wonderful candy sweetness from (i’m guessing) tons of amber candy sugar without being cloying at all. unique in that it’s basically a quad/belgian dark strong style beer, but amber in color. Fantastically clean, layered flavors, get it on draft if you can!
